The Proposal

I had just returned from an outer space mission. We lost many good men on our voyage, but had we not made the trip, our world's safety may have forever been altered. On my journey I met a wise little Neptunian. I told him about my girlfriend, all her wonderful qualities, and how I planned to ask her to make her my wife before she realizes who she's with and leaves.

He forged an engagement ring out of white gold and fastened on top a brilliant diamond which "sparkles with the power of a thousand suns," he said. I thought he was exaggerating until I saw it for the first time.

When I returned safely, after my "welcome home" parade thrown by the five richest kings of the world, I presented the ring to Brittany and pledged to love her forever. She said yes, but only if I start embellishing stories that otherwise would sound boring if I told them straight.
